It's awesome and if you don't have that mod it's worth a try just for pure hilarity. Whether that's through high resolution texture mods random smaller texture mods characters or whimsical effects.Īll the trees in my game have Christmas presents there are real vending machines, magazine shelves and my zombies are Stay Puft Marshmallow Men!!! Seriously, it's just the best killing Stay Puft zombies with their bright happy faces and very authentic looks as they crowd the levels with their fat size. As you can see the game looks quite different than what you would get during a vanilla play with almost every little detail enhanced. I've included two screenshots I took during that recent session of Left 4 Dead 2 showcasing both my L4D2 and L4D teams. This information as far as I'm aware doesn't even include the workshop files as I've collected a number of mods through there since that started awhile back.
The game keeps the mods separate so I have 17.1gb of mods available with 228 files that include everything from reskins to new levels and any other tweak I can find to make the game exactly how I want it. When playing this game a few nights back as I like to do this as a late night event either solo or with a friend I thought it might be a fun article to write about just how hardcore this game can be modded.įor some interesting stats the game's standard size is about 7.5gb with extra DLC that's probably about 10gb being fair. I've done my share of modding for the others, but there's just something extra special about this experience for me.Įven at this point I like to take the time every month or so to see what's new and fresh from the community to make the experience that much more unique. While many love their Skyrim or Fallout modding Left 4 Dead 2 is the game I've modded the most.
It's incredible that the game can feel fresh after so many years despite not receiving any DLC for however long.
Even at this point with the game being well over six years old it continuously feels like a fresh experience every time I got back with the addition of mods. Left 4 Dead 2 is one of the my favorite games of all time and I joined the PC game about a year after playing it on Xbox 360 since launch where I was introduced into a crazy, yet wonderful world of mods.
