While Microsoft canceled both Polaris and Andromeda in 2018, and tapped Windows 10X as their replacement, a build of the former has now leaked online. It was rumored that this flavor of the operating system will strip much of the legacy code and compatibility issues that the OS is currently encumbered with. This would be under the Windows Core OS umbrella which also included Andromeda as the operating system for foldable mobile devices. I can actually say that I used Dos 4.0 through Windows 3.1, NT 3.51, NT 4.0, 95,98,ME. It would auto maximize filling the screen just like the new Tiles on the New Start menu in Windows 8. They used to place all the icons inside a Window that would be on the Desktop- The only separate ones were the control panel. Just look at the old Windows 3.1 - especially the Packard Bell version. and how people got used to using the start menu but now the icons are back. (and you also have to move your cursor to the left and click- so there again it is the extra context switch also)Īnd I was actually stating how people complained about the icons not being on the desktop anymore. Uhm wrong hit your windows key- and tell me the icon's don't fill the screen - just like it used to be inside a window on the desktop on 3.1. Start menu and icons don't require an entire context switch to access nor takes up the whole screen. Then when I'd finished that and I went back to working with pieces that were like three minutes long, it seemed like oceans of time. I was so sensitive to microseconds at the end of this that it really broke a logjam in my own work. I got completely into this world of tiny, tiny little pieces of music. I thought this was so funny and an amazing thought to actually try to make a little piece of music. The thing from the agency said, "We want a piece of music that is inspiring, universal, blah-blah, da-da-da, optimistic, futuristic, sentimental, emotional," this whole list of adjectives, and then at the bottom it said "and it must be 3 1/4 seconds long."
